Artist Statement

Lesley started as a teaching school to educate young women to become kindergarten teacher. Since Lesley has open for all diversity, it has become a vivid muti culture communities where all disciplines and culture are mix together to innovates the world. To show the mixed diversities and cultures that Lesley is carrying, I choose  art style of De Stijl to show how people of Lesley is represent by pure abstraction and universality by a reduction to the essentials of form and color.  Artists from the De Stiji movement believed that primary colors and shapes can express a new utopia harmony and order. Each combination of color and shape is suppose to represent a  meaning  or feeling. I want people of lesley to experiences this new utopia harmony and perhaps the diversities of Lesley can create a new harmony and order through interacting this piece. The end result will define Lesley’s Diversities and cultures in the style of pure abstraction and universality.

3d-concepts installation

A junior designer at the Art institute of Boston.

the works I’ve been doing for these years are heavily involved with graphic designs and typography. I’m a big fan of minimalism, and contemporary  pop/street culture, of course my designs are inspired by these values.

I’ve always want to get involved in installation arts because I’m fascinated by the idea of rather art lives in a 2-D surface, art is shown on a 3-D platform where the audiences are experiencing and engaging the artwork.  Installation art creates an environment that is different from looking at an artwork in a museum or gallery. in a museum or gallery, the audiences are restricted by what they can do with the artwork which created this heavy and uncomfortable feeling. For me, art is for people to enjoy, people should feel free talking about the artwork not just stand there and look. I feel installation art has the power to break away the silences within people and force people to talk about it and interact with it.

I think today, people are expecting creativity, and excitement in almost everything. If it’s not interesting, then it’s not worth the time to invest into.  Traditional art is no longer the primary style to define art. But new art styles like installation art, films/video, performance art, street art are the primary style for today’s art world.  People are just not satisfied with just looking at something now, people wants to experience the whole atmosphere.
